Captain Paul S. Hammer, M.D.

Captain Paul S. Hammer has been a military staff psychiatrist and is experienced in the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and in working survivors of turbulent events. His work helps survivors integrate their experiences into “normal” life. In a business context, this may mean supporting managers whose employees include veterans of the war in Iraq, and supporting employees after a tragic incident on-site, after an industrial accident or after the illness or death of a key executive.

Paul’s experiences in emergency and critical incident psychiatry read like newspaper headlines. Most recently he was deployed with a medical battalion to Iraq. During his second tour in 2006 and 2007, he was responsible for coordinating mental health care for 23,000 Marines and sailors over a 50,000 square mile area of western Iraq. Paul received his medical doctorate from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine. He completed his psychiatry internship at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland and his psychiatry residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego.
